Three people are in custody after a marijuana sale in Collinsville ended in an armed robbery, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to an apartment complex at 285 Spring Drive on Friday, July 3, after receiving a report of an armed robbery. When they arrived, investigators quickly identified those involved and took three suspects into custody without incident.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim had arranged to meet someone at the apartment complex to sell marijuana. Once there, he was confronted by two juvenile males, one of whom had an AR-style rifle. The suspects took the victim’s handgun, cell phone, and marijuana before running into a nearby residence.
Investigators later got a search warrant for that residence. During the search, deputies recovered several of the stolen items, including the victim’s Taurus G3 handgun, the marijuana, and the AR-style rifle believed to have been used in the robbery.
The quick turnaround between the initial 911 call and the arrests suggests deputies moved fast to track down everyone involved before anyone could get far. Recovering the weapon used in the robbery, along with the stolen handgun, was likely a key part of building the case against all three suspects.
Charges Filed Against All Three
Twenty-one-year-old Niseer Davontae Ellis was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and accessory after the fact. He is being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
The two juveniles were each charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Both were taken to the W.W. Moore Juvenile Keller Detention Center and remain in custody as their cases move through Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Because both suspects are minors, their names have not been released, and the cases will be handled separately from adult criminal proceedings. Robbery and firearm use charges at this level are serious even in juvenile court, and outcomes can include extended detention depending on how the case is resolved.
Investigation Still Open
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active after consulting with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. Investigators are continuing to review evidence and conduct follow-up interviews, and additional charges are considered likely as the case develops.
Officials have not said whether the victim will face any charges related to the marijuana sale itself, though the sheriff’s office statement makes clear that detail was part of the initial circumstances leading to the robbery.
