Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people Sunday afternoon after a rash of 911 calls reported gunshots in the Pinehurst Drive area of Beacon Square, according to Pasco News.
Deputies responded to the neighborhood around 4:05 p.m. following multiple reports of shots fired. Investigators say deputies moved quickly and located the people responsible for the gunfire, detaining them without incident. According to preliminary findings, the pair had been firing weapons in their own backyard. No one was injured in the incident.
Following the investigation, deputies arrested Erick Omar Quelite-Charrez, born July 17, 2005, and Jasmine Zillagomez, born July 5, 2005. Both face charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm, along with additional charges that have not been detailed publicly.
Sheriff’s Office Issues Correction on Suspect’s Identity
The original release from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office named Heidi Quelite-Charrez as one of the people arrested. The agency later corrected that information, confirming that Heidi Quelite-Charrez was not arrested. The adult female taken into custody in connection with the shooting has been identified as Jasmine Zillagomez.
Authorities have not released further details about the relationship between the two suspects or the exact circumstances that led to the gunfire, though neighbors reported hearing multiple shots before deputies arrived on scene.
Officials say the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no continuing danger to residents in the area. The sheriff’s office noted that the investigation remains active, and additional charges could still be filed as detectives continue gathering evidence.
Beacon Square residents reacted with a mix of concern and frustration online, with several commenters noting that homes in the area sit on small lots not suited for discharging firearms.
Others speculated about the location of the home and questioned why the shooting happened in a residential neighborhood rather than somewhere more remote, especially given the presence of children living nearby.
Pasco County has strict rules regarding the discharge of firearms within residential zones, and violations can carry criminal penalties depending on the circumstances. It was not immediately clear whether the two suspects had been released on bond or remained in custody at the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.
