Illinois State Police are investigating a double homicide that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Olney, Illinois. The incident happened just after 3:00 p.m. along East Monroe Street on the south end of town.
According to authorities, officers responded to two separate homes in the 400 block of East Monroe Street after reports came in around 3:11 p.m. When they arrived, they found two people dead. The victims have been identified as 52-year-old John D. Jones Jr. and 73-year-old Deborah J. Jones.
One person is now in custody in connection with the killings, and police say there is no ongoing risk to the public.
Some reports indicate the victims were killed by a family member, though Illinois State Police have not officially confirmed the relationship between the suspect and the victims.
