FREDERICK, Md. — A Walkersville man is behind bars after allegedly attacking another man with a machete at a popular Frederick County park earlier this week, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
The Attack at Loy’s Station Park
Deputies were called to Loy’s Station Park at 13506 Old Frederick Road in Rocky Ridge on the evening of July 15 after receiving a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived around 6:22 p.m. and found an adult male with severe injuries. He was rushed to Meritus Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Investigators said the victim and the suspect had been driving separate vehicles when they both happened to pull into a parking area near the park.
Once they got out of their cars, an argument broke out between the two men. During that confrontation, authorities allege the suspect pulled out a machete and struck the victim in the head and arm, leaving him with serious wounds. The victim was later treated and has since been released from the hospital.
Suspect Identified and Located
Detectives worked quickly to identify the man accused in the assault as 36-year-old Michael Anthony Faya of Walkersville. Once he was named as a suspect, investigators secured a warrant for his arrest on a charge of First Degree Assault.
The following day, on July 16, deputies carried out a search warrant at a home in the 10700 block of Dublin Road. Faya was found at that address and taken into custody without any resistance or incident. He was booked into the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on the assault charge.
