Scarsdale, NY: Police Investigate Suspicious Death of Woman Found in Fox Meadow Home

Scarsdale Homicide

In Scarsdale, New York, police are looking into the death of a woman whose body was discovered inside her house in the village’s Fox Meadow neighborhood.

Body Discovered Overnight on Butler Road

The discovery was made in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 7, though authorities have not disclosed what prompted officers to arrive at the Butler Road residence at that hour. The home sits on a stretch of road between Brewster and Hampton roads, right next to the playground at Fox Meadow Elementary School.

That section of Butler Road remained closed off with police tape throughout the day as Scarsdale officers and Westchester County forensic teams worked the scene, gathering evidence. By early evening, two prosecutors from the Westchester District Attorney’s Office had also arrived to consult with investigators on site.

Investigators Stay Tight-Lipped on Cause of Death

Officials have been careful not to label the case in any particular way, though the circumstances surrounding the death have been treated as suspicious from the start. Detective Lt. Dinis Castro, who addressed the case in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon, would not offer any details on how the woman died or the manner of death.

That statement came out shortly before officials from the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office reached the scene to begin their own examination.

Castro had earlier declined to say much about the investigation at all, including whether homicide detectives were treating it as such, citing the fact that the case remains active and ongoing. He did stress one point clearly: there is no indication of any danger to the wider community as a result of this incident.

Police have not released the identity of the woman found dead, and no arrests have been announced as of this report. Neighbors in the quiet Fox Meadow area, known for its proximity to the elementary school, were reportedly unaware of any disturbance until they noticed the police presence and tape blocking off the road.

Anyone who may have information related to the case is urged to contact Scarsdale village police directly at 914-722-1200.

This remains a developing story, and updates are expected as investigators continue working to determine what happened inside the Butler Road home. Authorities have given no timeline for when more information, including results from the medical examiner, might become available to the public.
